B.Pharm Fourth Year Syllabus
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is a four-year, eight-semester degree. PCI has mandated a revised NEP 2020-aligned syllabus for all approved institutions from the 2026-27 session. Alongside the classical pharmacy subjects, it introduces computing, data science and AI throughout the programme — Python, machine learning, data analytics and AI applications are now core courses.
Semester VII — theory subjects
Biostatistics & Research Methodology
Research design; sampling and data collection; statistical analysis and hypothesis testing; scientific writing and reporting of research.
Cosmetics and Cosmeceuticals
Formulation, evaluation and regulation of cosmetic and cosmeceutical products for skin, hair and oral care.
AI in Clinical Applications
NEP newApplication of artificial intelligence in clinical practice — clinical decision support, diagnostics, patient monitoring and personalised medicine.
Modern Analytical Techniques
Advanced instrumental analysis — NMR, mass spectrometry and hyphenated techniques, and their pharmaceutical applications.
Pharmacovigilance
Drug-safety monitoring; adverse drug reaction reporting; signal detection; national and global pharmacovigilance programmes.
Pharmacy Practice
Clinical and hospital pharmacy; patient counselling; therapeutic drug monitoring; the pharmacist’s role in patient care.
Regulatory Affairs
Drug-approval processes; regulatory bodies (CDSCO, US FDA, ICH); dossier preparation and regulatory compliance for global markets.
Plus: Elective courses and a Research Project. Each theory course has a paired practical.
Semester VIII — theory subjects
Ethical Considerations and Translational Applications of AI in Pharmacy
NEP newEthics, bias, data privacy and governance in AI; translating AI research into pharmacy practice; responsible and regulatory aspects of AI in healthcare.
Clinical Pharmacotherapeutics
Evidence-based drug therapy for common and chronic diseases; treatment guidelines; rational prescribing and patient management.
Industrial Pharmacy and Facility Design
Pharmaceutical manufacturing and plant design; production management; scale-up, quality systems and regulatory facility requirements.
Pharmaceutical Management
Principles of management; pharmaceutical marketing, finance and human resources; supply-chain and business management.
Sterile Dosage Forms and Novel Drug Delivery System
Parenteral and sterile products; novel and targeted drug-delivery systems — controlled-release, transdermal and nanotechnology-based delivery.
Plus: Elective courses (e.g. Pharmaceutical Packaging, Supply Chain Management, Pharma 4.0 with AR/VR) and Value-Added Courses. Each theory course has a paired practical.
What's new in NEP 2020: the revised B.Pharm curriculum weaves computing and data science through the whole degree — Python programming, applied data analytics, machine learning and AI applications are now core subjects alongside the classical pharmaceutical sciences.
