Unit 1 · Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945 10 hrs
The objectives and definitions of the Act; the legal definitions of the schedules to the Act and Rules; and the CDSCO guidelines governing the import and export of pharmaceuticals.
Unit 2 · Schedules and Manufacturing Provisions 10 hrs
The provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945 relating to the manufacture, sale and distribution of drugs; and the requirements of the principal schedules, including Schedule F and Part XII-B.
Unit 3 · Offences, Penalties and Enforcement 8 hrs
The offences created under the Act and the penalties prescribed; adulterated, spurious and misbranded drugs; and the powers of inspection, sampling and prosecution.
Unit 4 · Regulatory Bodies and Authorities 8 hrs
The Drugs Technical Advisory Board, the Central Drugs Laboratory and the Drugs Consultative Committee; government drug analysts and licensing authorities; and their respective constitution, powers and functions.
Unit 5 · Allied Legislation and Professional Ethics 9 hrs
The Pharmacy Act 1948 and the constitution and functions of the Pharmacy Council of India; the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act; the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act; and the code of pharmaceutical ethics governing professional conduct.
